INVESTIGATION ON THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT ON THE EVOLUTION OF THE QUANTITY SURVEYING PROFESSION.

ABSTRACT
The Quantity Surveying has been in constant evolution and one of its major driving forces has been technological advancement. This paper will of focus on technological advancement, new trends in the construction industry and its effect on the traditional role of quantity surveyors and graduate quantity surveyors.
The research engaged intensive literature review to form the theoretical framework of the research. Field survey was engaged to collect data from the target population of Quantity surveyor in Nairobi City County. Questionnaires were administered to 41 respondents, a sample size determined through simple random sampling of the respondents. The data obtained was processed and analyzed descriptively. Findings were discussed and interpreted in relation to the objectives of the research.
The study revealed that technological advancement is a driving force in the evolution of the quantity surveying profession since its contribution is immense. The study also revealed that technology has enhanced construction productivity, improved communications for effective decision-making and coordination among construction participants.
From the findings of this study, the researcher concluded that technological advancement is a driving force in the evolution of the quantity surveying profession. Intensive adoption of technological advancement is in the construction industry is very low and subsequently high level of technological advancement is not in use.
The study encouragement the adoption of technological advancements in the construction industry and increased research and development funds for technological advancement in the construction industry
